The Story of the Christ-Stollen

Just over 700 years ago somewhere in Germany, the first stollen came out of the oven. Recipe and origin are unknown.

.Beautiful is all the story that accompanied the stollen: The stollen belongs to the formation breads, baked goods, with a symbolic nature. Important about the stollen is the thick layer of white icing sugar, because it symbolizes the white cloth, into which the infant Christ was wrapped after his birth in Bethlehem. Therefor the stollen is a symbol for the Baby Christ child.

 The impatient Christ-Stollen

There was once a Christmas cake, which was already kneaded down by the idea to be a delicious breakfast of bread with butter. Yes, he even dreamed of the prospect being served for afternoon coffee, as cakes, like real cakes.

Now the sweet studs lay for weeks in the bread tray, lay in a transparent, shiny Christmas paper, with snow and Christmas-sled and had to watch as all other loaves were used: the black bread, wholemeal bread, even white bread and crisp bread were regularly in the series and were allowed to prove himself. I think the cake was very pale with envy and impatience, but this one could not say for sure because he was covered all over with icing sugar. "Because they've made so much fuss about me," thought the tunnel bitter as Sukad, "has sweetened me and studded with raisins. Yes, even has pieces of the Marzipan housewife baked into me. And now?" Now I'm not wanted, and here `gammel rum, beautiful and tasty, but useless. " But then came Christmas Eve. The hostess stood in the living room on the gifts. And now, now they uncovered in the kitchen, the most festive of the year, coffee table, and the best, the noblest and the tastiest, which could offer them, that was the Christmas cake. Unfortunately, he could not keep his big, solemn importance of enjoying long, because it tasted too good and was eaten in half an hour. (Helmut Wördemann)
